SLC Recovery Day Celebration & 5K Run/Walk for Recovery

This event is a community celebration for people, family members, friends, allies and organizations who support recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. The event is a community collaboration of volunteers and organizations who contribute to planning activities, music, and fun that is free* to the public. *There is a registration for the 5K Run/Walk for Recovery.  Start time is at 8:30 a.m. on Galivan Ave.

WHEN: September 14, 2013 - 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM 

WHERE: Gallivan Center, 239 South Main Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84111

  • 7:00-8:00 a.m. 5K on-site registration
  • 8:30 a.m 5K starts on Galivan Ave.
  • 9:00 a.m -3:00 p.m. Recovery Day Celebration on Galivan Plaza
  • 11:00 a.m -12:00 p.m. Free hotdogs!
WHO: Utah Support Advocates for Recovery Awareness/ USARA celebrates individuals in recovery, their loved ones, friends and community supporters.  Representatives from over 60 agiencies, mutual aide groups and community partners will be participating with giveaways and information about substance use prevention, treatment and recovery support.
WHY: September is National Recovery Month (www.recoverymonth.gov) promoting "Join the Voices for Recovery - On Pathways to Wellness".  The event is held to raise community awareness about the societal benefits of prevention, treatment, and contributions of treatment and service providers, and promotes the message that recovery in all its forms is possible.  Recovery Month spreads the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover.

USARA and our YPIR, Young People in Recovery, group are hosting a fiery end of young people in recovery v2Summer Recovery Day Event on the evening of Recovery Day, September 14th at the Gallivan Plaza.

We are putting on this event to remind the recovery community that we can still have a good time without drugs & alcohol!

This event will feature, music,Ariel hoop artists,DJs, Belly Dancers, Burlesque dancers and more!

This ticketed event opens up at 6:30pm and will begin around 7:00pm. Tickets are $5 a piece and available through City Weekly.

We are organization for young people in recovery by young people in recovery. The most important thing that we do is have fun. We work hard, but we are free to be ourselves, enjoy each other's company and have an awesome time!
