Biography
Robin joined the USARA Board in 2019 and is thankful for the opportunity to serve an organization that makes such a difference in our community. She comes from a family that suffered from substance use and behavioral health challenges across generations. During her career she has worked as the director of the Ryan White program at the U. of U., chief of staff for the Georgia Dept. of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities and director of finance with Emory U. Brain Health Center among other positions over 40+ years. She has volunteered with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, on a suicide hotline, and as an advocate for victims of domestic violence.

Biography
As the director of Neighbor Recruitment for The Other Side Village, I am committed to creating a better life for those who have experienced chronic homelessness, addiction, mental illness, and for displaced veterans. Having spent 10 years homeless in San Francisco, I have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by those who are struggling to rebuild their lives. With 17 years of sobriety, I am passionate about helping others find the support they need to overcome their own obstacles and achieve lasting recovery. Through my work at The Other Side Village, I’ve had the opportunity to help able make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in the Salt Lake City community. One on one, heart to heart, person to person, I believe that’s how we can make an impact on the lives of those that continue to struggle.

Biography
As a person in long term recovery from a substance use disorder I feel it is my duty to support and advocate for other addicts or alcoholics that might still be suffering. I am finishing my Masters of Social Work degree and Utah Valley University so that I might better serve my community. I have worked in substance abuse since 2015 and have no plans of that changing anytime soon.

Betsy is private practice lawyer focusing on the financial services industry, securities law, and regulatory compliance. She is also closely connected to the recovery community in Salt Lake and has been an ardent supporter of USARA and other recovery organizations for over 17 years.
